I don"t care if the story is good. If a bomb blasts right beside you and you don"t even shake/move, you do not deserve a decent rating or an Oscar nom.
Besides, this seems sorta like a remake of Idi, Smotri.

A war that is now a century old (and therefore no longer widely understood) is vividly captured in this stunning dramatization by Sam Mendes. It portrays the journey of two British infantrymen who are tasked with the near-impossible assignment of alerting another unit of an approaching trap. The one-take film focuses on their grueling slog across no-man"s land to the other unit"s location. Along the way, their path encounters many instances of danger and surprise.
Not always easy on the senses- in fact rarely so- this film gives one a first-person perspective on how hellish and miserable this war was. And although the story is about this particular conflict, one gets the sense that many of the realities of war in this film are still applicable today, a century later. That"s what makes this such a startling film experience. As for Roger Deakins" cinematography, it is every bit as breathtaking as one would anticipate from him. Highly recommended to those who are familiar with this part of history and to anyone who has served in combat and who would know the horrors that are portrayed here. And recommended to everyone else.

Synopsis The Kims - mother and father Chung-sook and Ki-taek, and their young adult offspring, son Ki-woo and daughter Ki-jung - are a poor family living in a shabby and cramped half basement apartment in a busy lower working class commercial district of Seoul. Without even knowing it, they, especially Mr. and Mrs. Kim, literally smell of poverty. Often as a collective, they perpetrate minor scams to get by, and even when they have jobs, they do the minimum work required. Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks" adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks" employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks" housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong"s housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. Gisaengchung 1080p. The ending also is very brilliant. While the rich were able to run away from the house where lots of sadness and drama happened and start from scratch somewhere more peaceful and stable, the poor had no other choice than to come back to their semi basement. They are stuck living in a place that reminds them everyday of the horrific adventure they had. No second chance for them and no starting from the scratch.

I watched this movie around 5 days ago and i cant stop thinking about it. truly a fucking masterpiece - the pacing, the writing, the acting, the music, the hidden references - its a movie that keeps giving. Great acting and beautiful camera. Surprising plot turns and very good suspense that oftentimes gets released with a lot of humor. Crazy culmination and somewhat open end, not sure what the story ultimately wants to tell the viewer.

I heard it good and all but would have liked seeing and hearing of this months ago rather finding out on day of Oscars that this actually existed. Not trying to hate on the movie but quite annoyed their was no promotion at all to even tell us about this. I only saw the movie after it had won the Oscar and still had skepticism about winning 4 Oscars until I"ve finished watching it.   What a mind-blowing story!  I couldn"t move for a while and I didn"t know what to think of it. Who else though this was a live action adaptation of the anime parasyte ????‍??. How did the sister manage to have her hair dyed if they are poor tho??. I"ve watched it twice but I"ve still discovered new things. I even want to watch the 6 hours long movie in black and white, which will be released idk when As a cinema student I can tell that this movie is a masterpiece and that the director really have a special touch One of my favourite movie for sure ??. I think America is the only country who needs to seriously overcome the one inch subtitle. If you dont open your mind to foreign films, your really stuck in a box. Stop thinking all films needs to be English for you to watch. Its not the same if its dubbed either. They always have terrible voiceover actors. Seriously, Im glad my parents raised me up watching foreign movies and tv shows.

Kim K"atek and his near do well family literally living in the lower depths catches a break when their son obtains employment as a tutor for a wealthy family. Craftily the family conspires to inveigle its way into the household of the Parks by getting the chauffeur and longtime housekeeper fired and setting themselves up inside the lavish domicile with a Garden of Eden for a front yard. Things quickly take a turn however when the housekeeper returns for something she left behind.
Working with basically two class defining sets Parasite is a well filmed an interesting watch with the plot slowly unfolding in a darkly comic fashion before going into self induced chaotic free fall from the plausible to the absurd with a hurried climax and unsatisfying epilogue. Director Joon Ho-Bong and cinematographer Kyong pyo Hong do an excellent job of contrasting settings, situations, jabs about class and characters early, equally dividing the roles of his adult characters all benign and petty in their own way. It adds to the fascination of where this slightly off balance plot is going when the wheels come off. With no end game to the plot Ho-Bong decides to end it in conflagration and an insipid post climax that demands it defy logic.
